Some kind of wondeful

It's still freezing and the snow hasn't left yet. I like the snow, especially the first day it comes down - so magical!
Or when you wake up and the world is all white and you get out of bed as fast as you can calling out to everyone: 'It's snowing, look!' though they have -of course- already seen it. Then after a week it's not so special anymore, and after two weeks you get tired of slipping away everytime you leave the house.

And in this winterwonderland I am studying until my head is so full I can't fit anymore into it.
Still I have found some time to write a bogpost to tell you what's been going on (not much though, really).
Last Wednesday I finished my skirt I had to make for school.

I've worked on it for the last couple of weeks, we made the skirt from scratch which is very cool. I just make a piece of clothing out of nothing! And it fits perfectly too!
I know that it's not that big a deal, but I'm just proud.

Also, I finished my denim jacket last week! I cut the pockets off and sew a black glossy piece of facric where the pockets used to be, then I sew the pockets back on - backwards.
On the back I also sew the black fabric and decorated it with a lot of safety pins.
I'm pretty much satisfied and and actually like the way it looks. It reminds me a bit of grunge.

My sister send me a link to this site which I already love.
Today I found a piece on the beautiful collection by Valentino. It took my breath away - really beautiful, do check it out!

My favourite colours

I love the colour blue. I don't even know if it looks good on me (though my boyfriend tells me it does), I just always find myself buying blue clothes. It's a bright and happy colour and it makes me feel like everyone sees me.
When I was a small girl I (naturally) loved pink and purple. Now I don't like either. I used to have my closet full of purple clothes. Now I don't even have one piece of purple clothing.
I used to hate yellow and red. Now the theme of my room is red. Red chair, red rug on the floor, red closet, red bin.
I just don't have any red clothes. I would, if I dared.

Ten glamorous shoes

This winter brought with it beautiful colours, shapes and sizes when it comes to shoes.
As I said before - I have a thing for shoes so I made a top 10 fashionable shoes from this winter (though some aren't exactly winter-y shoes):

1.

Ice, ice, baby!
These stylish green ankle boots are quite special because of their unique heel. The glass heel (it looks just like ice) is a beautiful touch by the brilliant Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel.

These shoes are my number one because they are not like regular ankle boots. I love shoes that are not like any other.

2.
Back to the future.
'The future' is a theme this  winter. These silver pumps by Alexander McQueen show exactly that. They remind of space.

These shoes are my number two because they are very elegant. I love pumps, they make your legs long and gracefull. And I love the colour.

3.
That Seventies
These shoes by Louis Vuitton take you back in the day, to the seventies. The time of hippies, flowerpower and flared pants. There are a lot of coloured prints. And thick heels.

These are my number three because they are so very stylish. They remind me of my grandmother - though I can't remember her wearing these kind of shoes, though I wouldn't be surprised if she had worn them when she was younger - she had a lot of style. Especially for her age.

4.
Colour me happy!
These shoes by Fendi look sporty but they also have a feminin touch. Also Fendi dared to play with bright colours.

This is my number four because I like it when designers play with different styles (sporty yet feminin).
I only wish other colours were used.

5.
Lace up.
These ankle boots by Haider Ackerman are extraordinary, exceptional. They have a gothic feel to them. The lace is very well used and it looks more like a piece of art rather than shoes you would wear every day.

This is my number five because I love how creative it is. I love how much lace is used, and as if that's not all: there is a zipper 'shining' through.

6.
Made for queens.
These gorgeous shoes remind of shoes the queens used to wear. Only now they're modern.

These shoes are my number six because I can't decide wether I love or hate them. I would probably never wear them if I owned them, though I think they are gorgeous. They just aren't the kind of shoes you see a lot.

7.

Neat.
These shoes with the holes and the laces go pretty much with anything. They are chic when they have to be, and they're also fun when you want them to be. You can wear them with anything.

These are my number seven exactly because they go with anything. But I don't know if they're really me.

8.
Classical
These tasteful shoes are quite elegant. They go beautifully with a skirt. For when you need to look sharp.

These are my number eight because I think they have a lot of style, but I don't think I'd ever wear them.

9.
Give me a loaf of shoe.
These loafers are all the rage this winter. Comfortable, nice shoes with laces.

These are my number nine because I like the general way these shoes are looking, just not the colour and the way it fits around the foot.

10.
Look a little taller.
These funny shoes have thicker soles, so it looks like your on heels, only a lot more comfortable because it's devided over the whole shoe.

These are my number ten because I see everyone wear them. Though I myself don't like them very much.

So, this was my top 10 this year's winter shoes. And winter it is - I thought it was getting warmer, but it's going to freeze again end of this week and next week. I can't wait...

Thoughts

It's one o'clock - a silent night in January.
Nothing has happened yet.
It's dark, of course.
I hear nothing but the ticking of my clocks. They are not ticking in harmony: tick-tick...tick-tick...tick-tick.
It's a new year. 2013.
It feels weird. As if 2012 happened in a month or two. It feels like nothing has happened though I'm sure something must have happened. A year can't just go by unnoticed.
It'll be my birthday in a couple of weeks. I'll turn nineteen on the nineteenth. It feels like I wasn't eighteen at all. I remember turning seventeen though. I remember saying: 'Seventeen is such a weird age - you're just not allowed to do everything yet.'
One more year and I won't be a teen anymore. Ah so what, there are people who care, but I don't. You won't suddenly be different when you go from nineteen to twenty.

I love writing down my thoughts, eventhough they might sound a bit gloomy. I'm usually not gloomy, it just feels nice to write my thoughts down.
Plus: it sounds a lot better in English than it does in Dutch.
I used to have a diary - I still have one, though I haven't written in it for over two years. I think there are a lot of people out there who have a blog only to tell the world their thoughts. And it doesn't even matter if no-one reads it, that's not at all what it's about.
Actually, I don't even have a lot of things on my mind I want to write down.

I don't have any new year's resolutions. Not one. I can't think of one. Plus - I'll never keep them anyway. There are always things I want though.

I want to meet Tom Hanks, only to check wether he's really as nice in person as he always is in movies. He looks like such a kind, sweet man.
There are a lot of actors and actrices I want to meet. Not to scream and take  pictures, but just to talk and get to know the person behind the characters.

I want to go to New York. I wish I didn't have such a romantic idea of the city but I can't help it. I just want to go there, and live there for a couple of weeks, maybe months. So I can blend in and people won't think I'm a tourist anymore. And to get to know the fashion world, ah fashion...

I want to make my own clothes. I want to design and make them. Yes I know, I'm studying fashion management, but I so do want to design. I drew this dress the other day (yes, I draw sometimes - poorly) which was gorgeous: well, naturally the drawing wasn't gorgeous but the picture in my mind was.
I just wish I had the ability to actually make it. I dream of creating clothes that take people's breath away - real pieces of art. I don't care if no-one will want to wear them on a daily basis.

I want to work for a fashion magazine and combine all my passions: writing, fashion, maybe even photography.

And, of course, I want the summer to come back. Shorts, nice shirts, skirts, heels.
I asked my father once what the best day of his life was, and he told me it was the first day he could go to school with no coat on.
He's right - it's delicious.

Oh, there are lots of things I want but can't do or have. Well maybe one day, but for now - I want to sleep! Tomorrow, I'll have to finish the denim jacket I started on. I don't yet know what it's going to look like, but I'm quite sure it'll look better than when I bought it.

Good night Neverland!
